Funeral services and a Mass of Christian Burial for Marta Aleksiejczyk, 79, a resident of Davenport, will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 30, at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, Davenport. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Davenport.
Visitation will be 2-7 p.m. Tuesday at the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home. A prayer service will be offered Tuesday at the funeral home at 4 p.m.
Mrs. Aleksiejczyk died Saturday, April 26, 2008, at Genesis Medical Center, West Campus, Davenport, after an extended illness.
Marta Santachiara was born Sept. 9, 1928, in Alatri, Italy, a daughter of Americo and Sista Santachiara. She was united in marriage to Michele Aleksiejczyk on Aug. 31, 1948, in Italy. He preceded her in death Nov. 17, 1979.
She retired from Nichols Homeshield after 37 years of service. She was a tool and die maker and was proud of her talents.
She and Michele came to the United States with very little; they arrived from war torn Europe and they both worked very hard to achieve all that they had. Her greatest achievement and joy in life was her family.
Her memberships include the church, Ladies of the Moose, LULAC and the Owl Club at Nichols.
Memorials can be made to a memory fund to the family.
Those left to honor her memory include daughters and sons-in-law, Enrica and Charles Hodson III, Davenport, Alma and Hinh Do, Moline; sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Jill Aleksiejczyk and Richard and Gwen Aleksiejczyk, all of Davenport; grandchildren, Stephanie Hodson and Charles Hodson IV, Michael and Amy Aleksiejczyk III, Jassen and Natalie Aleksiejczyk and Nickolas and Andrea Aleksiejczyk, Joseph Aleksiejczyk, Austin Williams and Aaron Williams; Dr. Catherine and Dr. Joe Jackson, Michelle Do, Jacqueline (Tony) Scott, Phillip Do and Teresa Do; great-grandchildren, Brianna, Addison, Hayden, Peyton, Nolan, Anthony and Andrew. Marta is further survived by many living family members in Italy.
