Effie was born April 19, 1893 to Theodore and Fannie Myers Friend on a farm near Lodoga. Her parents had moved here from Kentucky in 1892. Other children were Ellis, Ethel, Pauline, Opal, Nellie, Buford, twins Eva and Everett, Arthur, Edna and Waneta. The latter two died as small children. Her grandparents were Manford and Mary Ann Friend, Estill County, Ky. and Henry and Tabetha Ann Miller, MT. Sterling, Ky. Great-grandparents were Francis and Agnes Walker Myers, Howard Mills, Ky. Great-great-grandparents were Henry Myers, Sr., and Hannah Boyles Myers, MT. Sterling, Ky. He was German Dunkard, a Revolutionary War Veteran. The Lord blessed Lando and Effie with the following children, Leonard, Kenneth, Lyle, Virginia and Junior. Theirs was a happy Christian home and in 1948 after many years of working and saving they bought a farm west of Parkersburg. Lando enjoyed farming and raising shorthorn cattle. Effie liked her white rock chickens. She was an excellent cook , so there were many family dinners, reunions, and picnics.
