Barbara Banks Adams passed away peacefully at her home Monday, November 13, 2006. She was 90 years of age. Barbara was born October 29, 1916 in Vernal, Utah to William Alva and Anna King Banks. She was the youngest of five children.

Barbara attended grade school in Vernal and graduated from Westminster High School in Salt lake City at the age of 16. She attended Westminster for two years and studied piano at the American Conservatory of Music in Chicago for one year. She completed her music education at the McCune School of Music at the University of Utah and graduated from the University of Utah with a bachelor's degree in music. After graduation she taught piano and performed professionally in Salt lake City and Vernal.

Barbara married Lewis Forrest Adams on August 2. 1941 in Vernal. He preceded her in death on October 26, 1966. She and Lewis moved to Meeker, Colorado in 1950 and owned and operated the Adams Lodge Guest Ranch on Marvine Creek in the White River National Forrest. In 1959 they moved to Grand Junction.

Barbara loved music and passed this to her children and grandchildren a love of music, especially piano. Her favorite composers were Chopin and Rachmaninoff. She playedtheir music almost daily. She was a piano teacher, an accomplished seamstress and excelled at making pies. Barbara always cared and loved to spend time with her daughters, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved shopping, especially for family and friends. Barbara was a community volunteer and supported many charitable causes. She was a member of the First Congregational Church and P.E.O. chapter DY.

In addition to her husband, Lewis, her brothers , Claudius Banks and Harold "Bus" Banks, and sisters Helen Banks and Margaret Shirley preceded her in death.

Her two daughters and their spouses and her five grandchildren survive her. Her daughters surviving are Sally Prinster and husband, Anthony of Grand Junction; Susan Adams and husband, Ted Watkus of Boulder, Colorado. Her children are Stepahnie Prinster Mottram (Jon) of Denver, Colorado; Sarah Prinster (husband John Coombs) of Incline Village, New York; Antonia Prinster Chaffee (Michael) of Golden, Colorado; Forrest Timothy Adams of Boulder, Colorado; and her four great-grandchildren are Josie Lynn Mottram and Andrew Lewis Mottram, Katarina Antonia Chaffee and Alexander Carlton Chafee.

A memorial service will be held at The First Congregational Church, 1425 North Fifth Street, Grand Junction, Colorado on Friday, November 17, 2006 at 3 p.m. Private burial will take place at Vernal Cemetery, Vernal, Utah.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions may be made in Barbara's name to Hospice and Palliative Care of Western Colorado, PO Box 60307, Grand Junction, Colorado, 81506 or The First Congregational Church, 1425 North Fifth Street, Grand Junction, Colorado, 81501.
