Member of the Mormon Battalion, Company B

History - George was born and raised in New Hampshire where he met and married Sarah. It was here that he first heard the missionaries and accepted the gospel. Little is known of his life. At some point in time they moved to Vermont as their children were born there. He was about 54 when they decided to move west with the Saints. Upon his arrival in Salt Lake, he settled in Payson, Utah, where he farmed. He also served as a mail carrier between Salt Lake and Winter Quarters, and helped guard many of the companies that crossed the plains. After his wife died, he moved to Benjamin where he died three years later. He remained active in the church all his life.
