MILFORD, Aug 14 - Services for Herbert L. Haviland Sr, 56, of 57 Beach street, a retired toolmaker, who died Thursday at 5:05 a.m. in Bridgeport hospital where he was admitted June 30 for surgical treatment, will take place Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in the Stratford funeral home of Dennis and D'Arcy, 2611 Main street. The Rev. Melville S. Bulmer, pastor of the First Methodist church, Stratford, will officiate. Burial will be in Union cemetery, Stratford.
Borm in Somerville, Mass., Mr. Haviland was a resident of Bridgeport many years moving to Milford four years ago. He was a life member of the Pequonnock Yacht club.
Mr. Haviland is survived by his wife, Mrs. Katherine Galpin Haviland; four sons, Robert W., David H., Harry B., and Herbert L. Haviland, and a daughter, Miss Kathleen B. Haviland, all of Milford.
