Irene Lucille (McCalpin) Antil, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, age 82 of Waverly, died Wednesday, September 6, 2006 at Abbott - Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born on January 6, 1924 in Marysville Township, Wright County the daughter of Martin and Florence Dalbec McCalpin.
On August 26, 1943, Irene L. McCalpin and Lawrence A. Antil were joined in holy marriage at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Waverly. God blessed their marriage with five children.
Irene was formerly employed at Tonka Toys in Mound, Green Giant Canning in Winsted and also did house cleaning. She enjoyed gardening and canning. Irene also enjoyed baking for others.
Irene was a faithful member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Waverly and its C.C.W. She also belonged to American Legion Post #305 Auxiliary.
Survived by loving husband Larry Antil; five children: Kenny (Patty) Antil, Bonnie (Mel) Belland all of Waverly, Patty (Dennis) Roufs of Maple Group, Daniel (Robbin) Antil of Pflugerville, Texas and Lori (Jim) Rozeske of Waverly; twelve grandchildren: Kevin Antil, Chris Kittock, Kelly Marquette, Jill Belland, Michael Belland, Jennifer Wisnefske, Jason Roufs, Kimberly Jackson, Adam Rozeske, Jackson Rozeske, Norah Antil and Jordan Antil; eleven great-grandchildren; three sisters: Antonnette (Bill) Smith of Buffalo, Betty Alger of Delano and Geraldine (Jim) Motzko of Watertown; brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends.
Preceded in death by her parents: Martin and Florence McCalpin; sisters: Mayme, Goldie and Kate and by her brothers: Francis, Robert and George.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Irene Antil was held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, September 11 at the Church of St. Mary in Waverly. Father Timothy Cloutier was the Celebrant and interment followed at St. Mary's Cemetery.
Special music was "When Irish Eyes are Smiling," "Song of Farewell," "How Great Thou Art" and "In The Garden." Soloist Maria Antil sang "Amazing Grace" and "On Eagles' Wings."
A visitation was held at the Peterson Chapel in Buffalo on Sunday, September 10 from 4-8 p.m. A Prayer Service was held at 7:30 p.m.
Honorary casket bearers were Jennifer Wisnefske, Jill Belland, Kelly Marquette, Kimberly Jackson, Chris Kittock, Norah Antil and Jackson Rozeske.
Casket bearers were Kevin Antil, Michael Belland, Jordan Antil, Jason Roufs, Adam Rozeske and Tom Ogle.
The Peterson Chapel in Buffalo served the family.
