'The Salt Lake Herald,' Salt Lake City, Utah
10 February 1896, page 7:
John Taylor whose funeral services will be held today at the Harrisville meeting house, was among the earliest settlers of Weber county, where the latter years of his life had been spent.
Mr. Taylor was born in Kentucky, December 7, 1812, but in early life removed to Missouri, and afterwards lived for a time in Texas. Coming to Utah, he settled in what is now Plain City, and continued to live there until 1864, when he removed to Montana, and lived for about ten years near Virginia. Returning at the end of that time to Plain City, he there spent the rest of his life, dying in that place February 7, 1896, a date just eighty-three years and two months after that of his birth.
Twelve children and his aged wife survive him, while there are nearly 300 of his direct descendants, living mostly in Utah.
