Jack Porterfield, 52, died Monday, July 1, 1991, in a Wichita Falls, Tx. hospital after a long illness. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wed. in the First Baptist Church in Waurika. Noel Curington, minister of the Waurika Church of Christ, officiated with the Rev. Mike Smith, pastor of the First Baptist Church, assisting. Burial was in the Waurika Cemetery under the direction of the Willis C. Worley & Son Funeral Home in Waurika. Jack Harvey Porterfield was born Jan. 22, 1939, in Ringling, Okla. He was the first of 15 children born to Barney and Minnie Porterfield. In 1947 the family moved south of Temple where he attended school in the Taylor community. In 1954 the family moved to Claypool where he graduated in 1957. On June 25, 1960, he was married to Alta Miller in Ardmore and the couple made their home in Waurika where he was employed by the Clem Smalley Ford Dealership as a mechanic. The company later sold to Morgan-Richardson where he continued to work until his health began to fail. Survivors include his wife, Alta of the home in Waurika; two daughters and son-in-law, Annette Chupp and her husband Brian, and Melinda Porterfield, all of Waurika; two sons, William "Shorty" Porterfield of Ardmore, and Jackie "Hotshot" Porterfield of Waurika; 10 sisters, JoAn Lovett, Linda Overton, Dianna Porterfield, Nona Porterfield, and Myrtle Porterfield, all of Waurika, Grace and Debbie Porterfield, both of Wichita Falls, June Cantwell of Burkburnett, Vicki Porterfield of Dallas, and Lenora Porterfield of Okla. City; four brothers, James Porterfield of Arlington, Tx., Floyd Porterfield of Burkburnett, Ronnie and Don Porterfield, both of Waurika; and two grandsons, Joshua Porterfield and Stephen Chupp. Pallbearers were Bill Petzold, Buck Lott, Gary Gerken, Billy Roy Keele, Monroe Harris, Jerry Brown, Burl Latta and Hank Latta.
