Virginia Melton, 69, of Roby, died Wednesday, October 13, 1982 at the Fisher County Hospital following a lengthy illness. Funeral Services were Thursday at 4:30 p.m. in Weathersbee Chapel with Rev. Loren Gardner, pastor of the First United Methodist Church in Roby officiating. Burial was in the Roby Cemetery.
Mrs. Melton was born Virginia Maurine Neves, May 14, 1913 in Roby and lived most of her life there. She was the daughter of the late Walter D. and Clara Neves. She married Arlon Melton on October 31, 1931 in Merkel. Mr. Melton preceded her death on March 1, 1981. Mrs. Melton was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star. She worked for many years as the City of Roby secretary and also in the Fisher County Tax Collector/Assessors office.
Mrs. Melton is survived by a son, Jimmy of Sweetwater; a daughter, Ginger Jones of El Paso; a brother, Ellis Neves of Snyder; five grandchildren and one great grandchild; numerous nieces and nephews.
Casket Bearers were: J. B. Hughey, Melville Jarnagin, John Kiker, Cecil King, Roy Noles, and J. T. Palmer.
