Roy Lawson

CHURCH HILL - Roy Lawson, 58, died Thursday morning (June 20, 2002) at Wellmont Holston Valley Hospital following a brief illness.

He was a lifelong resident of Church Hill and a construction engineer with Custodis out of Chicago, Ill. He was an avid ham radio operator under License #KG4G0P. He loved to play his guitar.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Treva Vaydak; his son, Brian Lawson; great-granddaughter, Alisha Fink; and his father, the Rev. Sturn Lawson.

Surviving are his wife, Jeanette Lawson, of the home; mother, Mrs. Ilene Lawson, Mount Carmel; sons, Ellis Lawson and wife, Glenda, Church Hill and LeRoy Lawson, Knoxville; grandchildren, Jamie Fink, Rex Fink, both of Hawaii, Chad Vaydak, Texas, Katy Lawson and Roy Lawson, both of Church Hill; great-grandson, Ethan Fink; sisters, Ruby Sizemore and husband, Earl and Kathy Beasley and husband, Jim, all of Rogersville; brothers, John Lawson and Dwayne Lawson, both of Mount Carmel, and B.J. Lawson and wife, Patsy, Church Hill; a very close friend, Bob Jenkins, Church Hill; along with several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Church Hill. Friends may also call anytime at the residence, 503 Carolina St., Church Hill.

Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Andy Sensabaugh officiating.

Graveside services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Sunday at Morning Star Church Cemetery (Church Hill).
