Mrs. Belle McClure, wife of Lawrence McClure, died at 7 o'clock last night at St. Elizabeth hospital, following an operation for an acute attack of appendicitis. She was taken ill last Saturday and was operated on at the hospital Sunday night. She rallied from the shock attending the operation, but complications developed that caused death. She was born near Jefferson, in Clinton county, April 11, 1869, and her maiden name was Belle Adams. She came to Lafayette when a small child and nearly all her life was spent in this vincity. She was was united in marriage to Mr. McClure March 5, 1903, and since that time resided in their handsome home on the Morehouse road. Mrs. McClure was a member of the Central Presbyterian Church, and was a woman of strong religious convictions. She was a member of the Wabash Farmers' Club No. 2, and took an active part in the work of the club. Mrs. McClure was a refined and cultured woman and was greatly devoted to her home and family. She was one of the best known women in Tippecanoe County and had a large circle of friends who will regret to hear of her death. Besides her husband she is survived by two stepchildren, Emma and Frank McClure; a half-brother, Thomas Litzenberger, of New York city, and a nephew, Charlise Litzenberger, of this city. The body was taken to the Frank & Son parlors to be prepared for burial. The funeral will be held at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon from the residence, Rev A. C. Dudley, of the Central Presbyterian church, officating. Interment in the Greenbush Cemetery. (Lafayette Courier, 7 April 1917)
