Civil War Veteran.

Died, at 4:30 o'clock Sunday morning, Aug. 13, 1911, at the family residence in Buffalo, Silas Burt, aged 87 years, 7 months and 28 days. Mr. Burt was born in Piqua, O., Dec. 15, 1833, and came to Illinois at the age of fourteen years with his parents, who settled at Hillsboro. March 24, 1859, he was married to Miss Eliza Chance at Buffalo Hart. He served through the Civil War as a member of Co. E., 116th Illinois Volunteer Infantry, having enlisted at Decatur in 1862, serving with this regiment through its eventful career in the army. He was one of the oldest and most highly respected residents of Buffalo, having returned there after the war and continuing to reside there until the time of his death.

Surviving him are six sons, G. W. and Joseph F. Burt, both of Springfield; William H. Burt of St. Louis, Mo., John H. Burt of Mechanicsburg; Edward R. Burt, of Barclay, and Silas Burt, Jr., of Chicago; two brothers, Joseph Burt of Springfield, and Benjamin Burt, of Mexico, and one sister, Mrs. Houk, of Hillsboro.

The funeral will be held at 10 o'clock Tuesday morning at the family residence in Buffalo and the interment will be made in the Constant cemetery at Buffalo Hart.
