Grady was the son of Arthur Lee Bennett and Flossie Ellen Locke Bennett. He married Katherine Grant and they ad five children.

OBIT from The Clarion-Ledger, Thursday, Dec. 28, 2000: Sunflower - Grady Bennett, 92, a retired farmer and merchant, died Tuesday, December 26, 2000, at North Sunflower County Hospital in Ruleville. Services are 2 p.m. Friday at Card Funeral Home with burial in Indianola City Cemetery. Visitation is 5-7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

OBIT from Delta Democrat Times, Greenville, MS, Dec. 28, 2000, adds: Mr. Bennett was a World War II Army veteran, a member of VFW, a Mason and a member of Sunflower Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Katherine Grant Bennett; two daughters, Sylvia Bennett McMillin of Chattanooga, Tn, and Nancy Bennett Costello of Lake Providence, LA; three sons, James Grady Bennett of Jackson, Reggie Bennett of Indianola and Tom Bennett of Nashville, TN; two sisters, Frances Rankin of Jackson and Evelyn Morris of Wayne, Ind.; one brother, Charles Bennett of Memphis; 10 grandchildren.
