Gilbert L. "Buck" Abbott, Sr., of LaGrange, died at Veteran's Hospital in Louisville on Saturday, Jan.16,1999. He was a farmer, an Army veteran of World War II, the recipient of a purple heart, two bronze stars, and several other medals, and a member of Henry County Disabled American Veterans #155 and Christ Open Door Church in Sligo.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Bessie; a son; two brothers, Lloyd and Clarence Abbott; and four sisters, Helen Wright, Corine Payton, Mary Law, and Verdie Petty.

Funeral services were at 2 PM, Tuesday, Jan.19, at Ransdell Funeral Home in Bedford with burial in Sulphur Cemetery. A military service was held at the grave site.
