Grave marker inscription: Lake Flanagan, Aged 44 years, Murdered at Moggollon, Nov 9, 1899. This cemetery is also known as the W-S Ranch cemetery.∼Mr. Flanagan's name on his headstone reads "Lake", but I believe his name to be Luke, as I have not found any Flanagan named Lake in all my research. Luke Flanagan of Ireland was the farm boss of the WS ranch and a close personal friend of Captain French, the ranch manager of the WS properties in Socorro and Colfax Counties. Mr. Flanagan was killed by a cowardly assassin named Saunders in Mogollon, New Mexico, November 9, 1899. He was 44 years old at the time of his death. He is buried in the WS Ranch Cemetery, near Alma, New Mexico.
