Many people did not know this, but Grandma was adopted after she was born. Se did not find out about her adoption until she was 13 years old. She never knew the names of her biological parents, but the parents who raised her were enough.
She graduated from Alexandria High School, class of 1945.
For awhile, she lived in Mississippi.

ALEXANDRIA — Elizabeth Ann Lewis, 79, of Alexandria, died Jan. 29, 2008, in Community North View Care Center after an extended illness.

Libby was born March 8, 1928, in Indianapolis, the daughter of Verlin L. and Helen (Ritter) Glover; adopted parents. Libby retired from the Ex-Cell-O Corp. in Elwood in 1980. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Alexandria.

Libby is survived by her daughter, Sandy (Barney) Maynard; seven grandchildren, Guy Maynard, Chet Maynard, Wendy Lamberjack, Scott Johnson, Ashley Amos, Chalee Lewis, and Christopher Cage; six great-grandchildren, Jessica Johnson, Gentry Mehling, Levi Lamberjack, Haley Johnson and Cole Johnson, Madden K. Amos, Avery James, Alayna James.

Libby was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Paul A. Lewis in 1998; and a son, Alan Lewis in 2003.

Family and friends are invited to gather Friday at the Whetsel Funeral Service, 1503 S. Park Ave., Alexandria, from 4 to 8 p.m.

Cremation was chosen, and interment of the cremains will be at the convenience of the family at Jones Cemetery, Yorktown.

The family requests memorials be made to the Madison County Humane Society, 2229 Crystal St., Anderson, IN 46012.
