Dorothy Louise Carder Spence, age 82 of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, formerly of Turners Station, died Tuesday, January 8, 2008, at her residence. She was the daughter of the late Love and Lora Walker Carder.

She is survived by one daughter, Cheryl Spence Holowacz and husband, Edward, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; two sons: Mark David Spence and wife Cindy, Honolulu, Hawaii; Michael Allen Spence and wife, Sheree, Springfield, Virginia; one brother, James Carder, Bedford; one sister, Sue Jones, Campbellsburg; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by four siblings: Mary Frances Coates, Nancy Carder Clifford, Emma Jean Carden Ginn and brother Jack Carder.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, January 17 at Arlington National Cemetery, Virginia.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Risen Christ Lutheran Church, 10595 Hwy 17. North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina 29582.

Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

A graveside service is planned for 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Va. Memorial contributions may be made to Risen Christ Lutheran Church, 10595 Hwy. 17, North Myrtle Beach, S.C. 29582.

Born in Turners Station, she was the daughter of the late Love and Lora Walker Carder.

Survivors include a daughter, Cheryl Spence (Edward) Holowacz, Myrtle Beach, S.C.; two sons, Mark David (Cindy) Spence, Honolulu, Hawaii, and Michael Allen (Sheree) Spence , Springfield, Va.; a brother, James Carder, Bedford, Ky.; a sister, Sue Jones, Campbellsburg, Ky.; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William A. Spence; three sisters, Mary Frances Coates, Nancy Carder Clifford and Emma Jean Carder Ginn; and a brother, Jack Carder.
