IRA H. MURPHY, 79, attorney, passed away January 6, 2008 at Methodist University Hospital. Public viewing will be from 1-7 p.m. Friday, January 11 at Jefferson Mortuary, 7788 Church Street, Millington. Services will be 3 p.m., Saturday, January 12 at New Covenant Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 4335 Horn Lake Road, Memphis. Burial will be at 10 a.m., Monday, January 14 in Elmwood Cemetery, Memphis. He was a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., a Korean War veteran, a state representative and a General Sessions Court Judge. He is survived by wife, Rubye J. Murphy of Memphis; one daughter, Debbie Phipps of Los Angeles, CA; one stepdaughter, Gwendolyn Brown of Memphis; one son, Michael Murphy of Memphis; two stepsons, George A. King and Dr. Richard D. Meekins, Sr., both of Memphis; one brother, George Murphy, Jr. of Memphis; and six grandchildren. Jefferson Mortuary 901-872-8800
