Veronica M. Cody, 83, of Palm Springs, Calif., formerly of Springfield, died Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2005, in Palm Springs. She was born Oct. 2, 1922, in Salem, S.D., the daughter of Charles and Mary Etta Curtis. She married Francis J. Cody in 1956 in Chicago; he preceded her in death. A son, Francis K. "Bucky" Cody, also preceded her in death.

Mrs. Cody was a registered nurse and served as supervisor of surgery training at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., and as supervisor of surgery at Memorial Hospital. She later worked as a private duty nurse. She was a member of St. Theresa Altar Society and Seven Lakes Country Club and served as treasurer of the Council of Catholic Women and chaplain at Desert Regional Medical Center, all in Palm Springs.

Survivors: son, Michael T. Cody of Loami; two daughters, Mary Frances Cody of Springfield and Mary Kathleen Baird of Palm Springs; four grandchildren; two sisters, Sunny Poate of Palm Springs and Mary Seika of Springfield; and two brothers, Donald Curtis of Springfield and Edgar Curtis of Roseburg, Ore.
