Nita Lee Henderson was born August 28, 1901, in Panguitch Utah to John Randolph and Rhoda Worthen Lee. She was the oldest of eight children, four of which died in infancy, and she spent her childhood in Panguitch. She married Reed Samuel Henderson June 3, 1925, in the Salt Lake City Temple.

Nita was a member of the LDS church and served in the Primary, Relief Society, and MIA organizations. She served an LDS mission with her husband, leaving for the mission home the day after their marriage. She taught elementary school for 14 years, was a member of the Business and Professional Women's Club and was also a member of the Lady Lions of Panguitch.

Reed and Nita had five children, but their daughter Louise (Adams) was the only one to reach maturity. One baby, Stanley, got pneumonia when he was only 14 months old, and died from the disease. One baby was still born, and the other two died a few hours after birth. Despite their many sorrows, Nita and Reed had a happy and loving marriage. They moved to Cedar City in 1957 after Reed was made the Southern Utah Game Manager for the Fish and Game department. He retired in 1970, but following a short illness he unexpectedly passed away December 7, 1978.

Nita lived out her remaining years in Cedar City with her daughter Louise, her Grandson Ronald Adams, and her four great-grandchildren. She passed away peacefully March 13, 1991. Following funeral services held in Cedar City, she was laid to rest with her husband in the Panguitch Utah cemetery.
