I speculate that he was named after his brother-in-law (later to become his uncle) Orson Dunham who was killed during the Cival War while serving in Company I, 29th Infantry Regiment Indiana on 8 Jun 1865 at Dalton, GA. Orson Duncan (Oscar) was born just 5 months after Orson Dunham died.
Oscar Duncan was a stone mason by trade. Born in Jefferson County, Indiana, his family moved to Madisonville, Hamilton County, Ohio near Cincinnati sometime before he was 6 years old. Oscar lived his later years after the death of Elisabeth in 1956 at his daughter Mabel Julia Duncan Kohus house in Mt Repose, Clermont County, Ohio. Oscar and Elizabeth were married for 69 years. Due to health reasons he later moved to a nursing home near Milford, Ohio where he was living at the time of his death in 1959.
