Mr. Gilfred George "Gil" Blackman, Jr., 63, died Tuesday morning (November 27, 2007) at Satilla Regional Medical Center after an extended illness.
He was a native of and lived most of his life in Paterson, NJ before moving to Waycross in May 2002. He was a retired police officer who served in Patterson, NJ from 1968 until 1994. He also served in the United States Air Force.
He is the son of the late Gilfred George Blackmon, Sr. and Vivian Anderson Blackmon Edwards.
Survivors include his wife, Denese Miles Blackmon of Waycross; his uncle, Thomas Blackmon (wife Julia) of Patterson, NJ; mother-in-law, Charlotte Miles of Booton, NJ; five sister-in-laws and two brother-in-laws; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.
The family will receive friends 6 until 8 p.m. Monday (December 3, 2007) at Music Funeral Home.
Memorialization will be by cremation.
