"Robert D. Feldt, 58, 3335 West 150 South, Lebanon, died at his residence, at 10 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 14, 1998. Death was due to natural causes following an extended illness with cancer. He was born Nov. 25, 1939 in Lafayette, the son of Kenneth Eugene and Helen Lucille Hill Feldt. He married Lois Jean Hughes March 26, 1961 in Lebanon. She survives.
He was reared and educated in rural Tippecanoe County, having graduated from Monitor School in 1957. In 1961, he received his Bachelor of Science degree from Purdue University in Wildlife Conservation. He received a Master of Science degree from Purdue University in 1961 in conservation. He was a biologist, having spent his, career in Indiana working in the state for the Indiana Division of, Fish and ; Wildlife. His career spanned 34 years until his retirement in 1996. He was honored by having the Robert Feldt Marsh in Benton County named in his honor - dedication of 200 acres of wetlands by Ducks Unlimited and the Indiana Department of Natural Resources. His career included statewide involvement as a supervisor with responsibilities on the Midwest Pheasant Council, Mississippi Flyaway Technical Section and Council where he represented the State of Indiana on the organizational level. In addition, he had farmed all of his married years and was a licensed real estate salesman since 1960 and had become a broker in 1991. He was a member of New Hope Christian Church near Whitestown; Dayton Lodge No. 103, F.&A.M., Dayton; Indianapolis Scottish Rite; Indianapolis Murat Shrine; Ducks Unlimited (organization which raises funds to support waterfowl habitat in Canada and the U.S.); honorary member of the Indiana Chapter of the Wildlife Society; and the Boone County Farm Bureau Co-op.
Surviving, besides the wife, are: his mother, Helen L. Feldt, Lafayette; a son, Douglas L. Feldt, Indianapolis; a daughter, R. Colleen (Timothy) Luse, Lebanon; two sisters, Phyllis (Clifford) Dewey, Attica; Linda Yost, Indianapolis; and three grandchildren, Olivia D. Luse, P. Garrett Luse, and Audrey J. Luse. He was preceded in death by his father.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday in Myqrs Chapel of Memories, Lebanon, with the Rev. David Bourne officiating. Burial was in Tippecanoe Memory Garden, West Lafayette.
