Mrs. J. B. Banks died Tuesday night after a long illness
Mrs. J. B. Banks, Sr. passed away Tuesday evening at eight o'clock in a Weatherford hospital after an illness of the past several years. Her condition had been critical for some weeks and her death was not unexpected.
She was reared and educated in the Springtown Community, and the family resided in Springtown for many years before moving to Weatherford when Mr. Banks became county judge. Since coming to Weatherford Mr. and Mrs. Banks made additional hundreds of warm personal friends, who will learn with sorrow of her passing.
Mrs. Banks was a fine Christian woman, loved and honored by everyone who knew her. The sincere sympathy of the many friends are extended to the members of the family.
She is survived by her husband and three sons, Ben B. Banks, Fort Worth; J.B. Banks, Jr., and Gilbert Banks of Weatherford; also by two brothers, Tom Mercer, Fort Worth and D.E. Mercer, Springtown, and one sister, Mrs. N.L. Clarke, Fort Worth.
Funeral services were held in the Weatherford Church of Christ at one o'clock Thursday afternoon, by the pastor, Rev. Cled Wallace, and the body was then taken to Springtown for an additional service at 3:00 pm and burial was then made in the Springtown cemetery.
Pallbearers were the present county commissioners and two former commissioners; Paul Morgan, L.C. Hardaway, J.O. Dollahite, J.A. Nichols, Sam Nash and Dan Nelson.
