DUBLIN, GA/SPRINGHILL, LA -Funeral services for Mrs. Ester Lee Weems Gildon, age 88, will be held Wednesday, October 10, 2007 at 2:00 PM in the Central Baptist Church with Rev. Tim Everett officiating. Interment will follow in Walnut Hill Cemetery, Bradley, AR under the direction of Bailey Mortuary, Springhill, LA.
Visitation will begin Tuesday at 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM.
Mrs. Gildon was born December 10, 1918 in Bradley, AR to Odis Benjamin and Mattie Powell Weems and passed away October 6, 2007 in Dublin, GA. She was a resident of Dublin, GA and a former resident of Sarepta, LA and Plain Dealing, LA.
Mrs. Gildon was a member of the First Baptist Church of Dublin, GA and was a homemaker.
She is survived by her husband, of 70 years, John Alvin Gildon of Dublin, GA; sons; Bennie Gildon and wife, Pat of Dublin, GA, Orville Gildon and wife, Fran of Minden, LA, John T. Gildon and wife, Linda of Plain Dealing, LA, James Gildon and wife, Dee Dee of Beckville, TX; daughters, Joanna Canterbury and husband, Rev. Bernard Canterbury of Sarepta, LA, Marjorie O'Neal and husband, Charles of Plain Dealing, LA, Diana Powell and husband, Johnny of Dublin, GA; sisters, Orlean Thomas of Shreveport, LA, Margaret Burkmier of Boyd, TX; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-eight great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter.
Mrs. Gildon was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Tifton Weems and Terrel Weems.
Active and honorary pallbearers will be her grandsons, Jeff Canterbury, Joey Canterbury, Richard Canterbury, John W. Gildon, Ernest O'Neal, Alfred Gildon, Calvin Gildon, Jason Powell and Jody Powell.
