PIONEER WOMAN DIES YESTERDAY
Mrs. H.B. Welch, First Woman Hotel Proprietor in Linkville, Passes to Beyond at
End of 89 Useful Years.
From the infirmities of senility, Mrs. H.B. Welsh passes to her reward yesterday
afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at her home in Mills addition. She was the first
woman to run a hotel in Klamath Falls when it was Linkville and the first woman
to run a hotel in Merrill. Her husband, Bob Welch, left her for the land of
peace about six years ago.
The deceased is survived by a brother, Alex Zevely of Coos County.
