THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO LEAVES FLOWERS FOR MY GRANDPA AND IF HE WERE TO EVER MEET YOU HE WOULD TALK TO YOUR FOR HOURS. He was a great man in his older years! Ernest loved country music (Johnny Cash, Hank Williams, Dolly Parton was one of his favorites. He loved to play the guitar and rock in his rocking chair. He loved his family and all the grandkids, his sisters, brothers, nieces & nephews.

Ernest was a Battersea Boy--his best friend was Bubba Davis. He truly loved Petersburg. He and Bubba performed their tunes on the local radio station where they wore uniforms to the station.

Ernest was the son of William Joseph Bishop aka Joseph Boisseau Bishop and Bessie Lee Mayes Bishop. Born in Petersburg on Appomattox Street. He worked for a few different places until he broke his back and was put on disablitity. His last job was Brown and Williamson. Ernest was a bit of a fiasco. He loved to stay up all night and sleep all day!!!

He had a son who died after 6 hours in 1956. Then a son in 1958 names Joseph Boisseau Bishop, Sr. He had three grandchildren: Amanda Lyn Bishop Burns, Tracy Lyn Bishop Tyler and Joseph Boisseau Bishop, Jr. at the time of his death he had two great grandchildren: William Jason Burns, Jr. and Kaitlyn Nicole Burns.

Ernest suffered from diabetes. Had both legs amputated from under the knee down, he died due to infections. He was the father of Joseph Boisseau Bishop, Sr. Ernest married on September 30, 1956 in Petersburg, Virginia to Margaret Gay Jones Barron. He was a resident of Dinwiddie County most of his life was spent on Duncan Rd. That is where he was the caretaker of Thomas Jathan "TJ" Stone . TJs parents passed away and left him their farm. Ernest and Margie and TJ lived there until TJ passed. The farm is still there not much remains just a barn, a pack house, pole shed and a pond. The house was bulldozed due to tree falling on it.
