Donald L. Wilt, 78, of Dallas, TX, formerly of Lee's Summit, MO, passed away Tuesday, August 30, 2005 at the home. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, September 3, 2005, at Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, MO. Burial Orient Cemetery, Harrisonville. Friends may call 7-8:30 p.m. Friday, September 2 at the chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to American Lung Association. Donald "Don" Lee Wilt was born December 6, 1926, near Austin, MO to Roscoe Connard and Ella Myrtle (Jennings) Wilt. Don grew to maturity in Cass County, MO and graduated from Garden City High School in 1945. He served his country honorably at the end of World War II with the 701st Ordnance Light Maintenance Company in the European Theatre of Operations, as a Technical Sergeant responsible for requisition of supplies and equipment for automotive repairs. He was united in marriage to May Frances King on December 1, 1949, at Garden City, MO. They were the parents of two daughters, Judy and Carolyn. He was employed with the Missouri Pacific Railroad in 1949 as a telegrapher and later as Assistant Passenger Agent at Union Station, Kansas city, MO. He later was employed with Western Electric AT&T Technologies in Lee's Summit, MO as a production controller until his retirement in 1985. He and his late wife were members of the First Baptist Church of Lee's Summit, MO, the Lee's Summit Antique Auto Club, enjoyed music festivals, square dancing, camping, antiques and their family. The often hosted "jam sessions" for friends and relatives playing old country and western bluegrass music. He enjoyed his amateur radio, restoring his Model A, and spoiling his grandchildren. he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and recently, great-grandfather. He was preceded in death by his wife and parents, his brother, Kenneth Wilt, and one sister, June Ison. He is survived by two daughters, Judith Feild and her husband, Calvin, of Chickasha, OK and Carolyn McCune and her husband, Mark, of Dallas, TX; seven grandchildren; five greatgrandchildren; one sister, Anita Taylor and her husband, Austin, of Raymore, MO; and other relatives and many friends.
