Laura A. Campbell Butler was born on Dec. 24, 1830. She married Jeremiah J. Butler of Co. Tipperary, Ireland c.1853. They arrived in Philadelphia aboard the Briseis on July 14, 1853. The couple lived in Philadelphia several years before moving to Cleveland, Ohio, where he continued his work as a cooper(barrel-maker). Sometime around 1870, the Butlers moved to Kansas City with the first six of their eight children. They included William B.(b.1854), Helen (b.1860), John G.(1861-1939, buried in Calvary Cemetery, KCMO), Rose S.(b.1865),Thomas H.(b.1867) and Joseph Aloysius Butler(b.1869 or 70). Two more girls, Mary Ellen(b.1872) & Frances(b.1874), were born to the Butlers before Laura's death, also in 1874, at the age 44.
