REUBEN ABBOTT KILLED
Salina Man Caught Between Cars--Beams Pierced His Lungs.
Reuben Abbot [sic], for several years Union Pacific night operator in Salina, now a Union Pacific brakeman on the Solomon branch, was crushed between two freight cars at Minneapolis Monday and killed. Death was immediate, a beam of one of the cars entering his left lung. As he fell his right leg was severed by the wheels of the advancing car. He was a son of John Abbott, who committed suicide at his home in Salina about a year ago.
Abbott was about 35 years old. His wife lived in Salina. Mrs. Abbott went to Minneapolis as soon as notified of his death, and it is understood the funeral services will be held there. He was well known here.

TO BE BURIED HERE
Remains of Reuben Abbott Brought to Salina Today.
The body of Reuben Abbott, who was killed by a freight car Monday at Minneapolis, was brought today to Salina for burial. The remains are now at his home at 511 West Prescott. Members of the family accompanied the body.
Mr. Abbott came to Salina from Wyoming at the time of his father's funeral about a year ago. He had been married only a few months. Arrangements for the funeral have not been completed.

WHILE PLAYING BASEBALL.
Old Hoss Abbott Heard of Cousin's Fatal Injury.
Abbott, who is playing shortstop for Chapman, received word during yesterday's game that a cousin who was breaking on the Beloit branch of the Union Pacific had been crushed while switching in the yards at Minneapolis yesterday afternoon and would probably die. He left for Solomon last night. -- Manhattan Mercury.

The Abbott referred to is "Old Hoss" Abbott, formerly catcher with the Salina team. He is a cousin of Reuben Abbott, the man killed at Minneapolis.

REUBEN ABBOTT BURIED
Services Held From Former Home This Morning.
The funeral services of Reuben [sic] Abbott, who was killed Monday in a railroad accident at Minneapolis, were held at 10 o'clock this morning at his residence in Salina, 511 West Prescott avenue.
Beautiful floral offerings marked the funeral and a large number of the dead man's friends left their business to attend his funeral. Dr. George C. Fort, past of the First Methodist church, was in charge of the services. Music was in charge of a quartet led by Mr. J. E. Carnal.
Interment was at Gypsum Hill cemetery. The following gentlemen acted as pall bearers: Thomas Quinn, W. S. Farrar, W. E. Connelly, E. N. Nelson, Martin Ahlstedt and Howard Ford.
