GEORGE W. JENKINS JR., 88, of Lakeland died Monday at Lakeland Regional Medical Center. A native of Warm Springs, Ga., he moved from Winter Haven to Lakeland 70 years ago. He was founder of Publix Super Markets Inc. and member of First United Methodist Church, Lone Palm Golf Club, Lakeland Yacht & Country Club and Augusta National Golf Club. He is survived by four daughters, Delores Socia and Carol Barnett, both of Lakeland, Nancy of Palm Beach and Julie Fancelli of Florence, Italy; two sons, Howard of Tampa and David of Los Angeles; a brother, Charles H. of Lakeland; 14 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Heath Funeral Chapel, Lakeland.
