FAMILY/RESEARCH NOTES:
1. In 2013, it came to my attention that at least 4 Barnett family tombstones were moved to Luling City Cemetery. The graves are in the New Barnett McAllister Cemetery, discovered in November 2013.
In a hand-written letter (of which I have a copy) dated May 24, 1971, George B. McAllister admits that he and J. W. McAllister took it upon themselves to move the tombstones. It reads, "I had space in the Luling Graveyard and we knew the McAllisters & Barnetts were close kin. We hated to move grandpa & grandma's markers without moving the Barnetts, so we moved them all hoping we were doing the right thng."
The landowner witnessed the removal and verifies that only the tombstones were removed.
2. See Memorial #132984466.
3. Mary Lord Barnett married John M. Fleming, 15 Nov 1868 in Caldwell County, Texas after the death of 1st husband, Joseph Barnett.
