George Perry, 95, died Sunday, Oct. 30, 2005 at Manor Oaks Nursing Center in Rockdale. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 1 at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale with Rev. Eric Garcia officiating. Burial followed in the Salty Cemetery near Thorndale.

Mr. Perry was born June 11, 1910 in Milam County to Commodore T. Perry and Susie Montford Perry.

He married Lena Mary Sielaff near Taylor in Feb. of 1946.

He was a resident of Thorndale area for most of his life with the exception of his time in the Military and the past 3 years in Rockdale.

He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army, serving as a medical officer. He was a retired medic after 20 years with Alcoa, Rockdale Operations.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lena Mary Perry; two brothers, Bill and Rufus Perry; three sisters, Ivy Dawson, Annie Brock and Myrtle Perry.

Survivors include two sons, Jimmy Lee Perry of Thorndale and Dennis Ray Perry and wife Blanche of Taylor; daughter, Sue Elaine Widner and husband Julius of Taylor; five grandchildren, Michelle Perry of New Braunfels, Jody Perry of Thorndale, Dennis Ray Perry Jr. of Taylor, Kevin Widner of Thrall and Bradley Widner of Thorndale; six great-grandchildren, Scott and Grant Widner of Thrall, Quinn, Devyn, Kai and Grace Perry of New Braunfels; sister, Bessie Sefcik of Taylor.

Pallbearers included Kevin McCoy, Allen Turner, Bobby Caffey, Mike Organ, Jason Kovar and John Kovar.
