Mrs. Effie May Mills, 71,
226 Hoosier Avenue, Oolitic,
died at 12:05 a.m. today at
Crowe Community Hospital,
She had been ill for
several years and had been
seriously ill for five weeks.
She was born Jan. 22, 1902
in Knox Co., KY., to
Henry and Mary Jane
Hammons Swafford. She
married Tip Mills on Nov.
15, 1919 and he died on Aug.
13, 1959.
Surviving are four sons,
Frank of Charlottesville, VA.,
Willie, Oolitic, and Garvin
and Jan, both at home.; two
daughters, Mrs. Janice Beedie,
Bedford, and Mrs.
Karen Joy Brown, R, 2,
Bedford; 12 grandchildren;
one brother, Chriss Swafford,
Barboursville, KY.; and two
sisters, Mrs. Minnie Shupe
and Mrs. Susan Ridner, both
of Barboursville.
A daughter, Helen Marie,
three brothers and one
great-grandchild preceded
her in death.
She was a member of
Oolitic Pentecostal Church.
Services will be at 1:30
p.m. Wednesday in the
Elmwood Chapel of Day &
CarterMortuary with Rev.
David Franklin and Rev.
Richard Tallman officiating.
Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery.
Friends may call at the mortuary
after 6 tonight.

They moved to Lawrence Co., IN about 1924. The first two children were born in Knox Co., KY, Frank S. Mills and Helen Marie Mills. After moving to Indiana Willie Tip Mills, Jr., Garvin, Karen Joy, Janice & Jan were born. She was a wonderful mother and a wonderful christian woman.
