Mrs. D. Dowdy, age 91 years 4 months and 1 day, died at the home of her son-in-law J. A. (Rome) Jackson Thursday night of old age and general debility. She was the widow of Harry Dowdy, deceased, and was one of the best known women in the Dowdy section. She is survived by four sons and two daughters, all of whom are married and have families. The burial took place Friday afternoon at the Dowdy graveyard six miles northwest of the city.

Damaris Dowdy Dowdy was the daughter of Joseph Dowdy (1784-1870) and Mary Adeline Tucker Dowdy (1784-1860). She married Henry Petty Dowdy, who was the son of George K Dowdy.
