Ardath's mother passed away in 1906, and Ardath and her twin sister Arlie were adopted out. Ardath's name at birth was Artie, and her sister's name was Earlie. After adoption, they were no longer known by the surname Pounds. Artie Pounds became Ardath Jones. Her sister, born Early Pounds, became Arlie Jones.
Ardath's other brothers and sisters include Thomas Franklin Pounds, Hans Allen Pounds, James William Pounds, Amanda Elizabeth Pounds, and two younger brothers. They too were adopted and became John "Jack" Newland and Keith Foreman.
All the living siblings had a reunion in Chandler OK in 1961. It was the first time they had all been together in fifty years.
