Mattie Louise Howard was the second daughter of Frank and Callie Spencer Howard of Waxahachie, Texas. Later in life she had her first name changed to Marie. She married Harvey Clay Clark of Bardwell, Texas on 13 September 1924 in Waxahachie. They had one child, a daughter, Betty Lou Clark of Waxahachie.

Louise later married Ennis Edgel "Pat" Hale. She worked as a waitress for many years and later she and Pat managed the White Horse Inn and Saloon in Greeley, Colorado. Louise, better known as Granny Lou to her family, & husband Pat moved to Ovilla, Texas in 1975 where they spent their latter years in the home of her daughter Betty Lou Clark Tune.

In her last request to Betty Lou, she wrote "Thank you for being my daughter, Mother"

"Mrs. Marie Louise Hale, 79, of Ovilla, died at 6:55 p.m. Sunday at Tenery Community Hospital.

Funeral services are to be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Bardwell Cemetery with Rev. Billy Strayhorn and Rev. Gaylon Holt officiating. Burial will be under the direction of the Boze-Mitchell Funeral Home.

Mrs. Hale was born on Oct. 1, 1906, in Waxahachie. A retired restaurant owner, Mrs. Hale moved back to Ovilla 11 years ago from Colorado.

She was married to Ennis E. Hale who preceded her in death in 1976. Mrs. Hale was a Methodist.

Survivors include a daughter, Betty Tune of Ovilla; 4 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren."
