Robert was the son of Rev. Charles and Mary Ann (Dyer) Caddy. He married Samantha Straley and together they had one daughter: Flora Belle Caddy in 1861. Robert was killed in the battle of Chickamauga in Walker County, Georgia on 20 September 1863. His body was never recovered, but a memorial stone was placed for him at the Old Lima Cemetery in Lima, Ohio. In 1968 Robert's stone was moved, along with the rest of the cemetery, to Section F of the Woodlawn Cemetery.

Gravesite Details

Capt. Caddy's original military cenotaph was in Old Lima Cemetery. In 1968 it was relocated to Woodlawn Cemetery in Lima, Allen County, Ohio.
