Operation: Jubilee- Tactical reconnaissance in support of Dieppe raid
Brought down over enemy territory and was taken prisoner.
POW 20-Aug-1942, recaptured at Flensburg, murdered 29-Mar-1944 in a field along with 3 other comrades near Kiel. Cremated at Kiel and ashes returned to Sagan along with the other 49 escape victims. They were held in a communal vault in a cemetery about 500 yards from camp.
Later the remains were reinterred in a collective grave at Poznan 40km from Sagan.
