Mr. Cohoon was a son of Rolan E. and Jan L. Mabis Cohoon.

Survivors include his father and stepmother, Carolee, his mother, Jan L. Wright, four sisters, Krista Cohoon, Roxanne Huff, Michele Ash and Danielle Wright, paternal grandparents, Lloyd and Wanda Cohoon, maternal grandparents, Dean and Vera Mabis and maternal great-grandmother, Helen Curtis.

His paternal great-grandparents and maternal great-grandfather preceded him in death.

A welder at A.R. Welding in Farmer City, Mr. Cohoon was a 1993 graduate of Blue Ridge High School, past president of the Future Farmers of America chapter, treasurer of his class and member of the Varsity Club. He lettered four years in football, a member of the Tri County Bass Club and the Sons of the American Legion, of Farmer City.
