Philip James Cavanaugh was born in Waltham, MA to Helen (Dailey) and James Cavanaugh on July 1, 1941. He was raised in Lexington, MA as an only child. He worked as a self employed truck driver. He loved drinking with his buddies and telling stories.
He married Celeste Tousignant around 1964 and together they had two children, Philip James Cavanaugh Jr. in 1965 and Michelle Renee Cavanaugh in 1966.
In 1970 he had another son, David Scott Graham.
He married Nancy Anderson in 1982 and together they had a daughter, Diana Louise Cavanaugh in 1983.
In 1989 he married Gloria Wilson.
He died from colon cancer on January 13, 1992.
He is survived by his wife Gloria, his children, and his grandchildren; Timothy and Ashley Wilson. Another three grandchildren were born after his death; Nicholas, Tiffani, and Saphira Graham.
