Twelve-year-old Abby LaCombe of Lumberton, who died because of a tire blowout on Interstate 59, was one of three people killed Sunday in three separate single-vehicle accidents, two in Harrison County and one in Pearl River County.

Three passengers in the same car as LaCombe were injured, one critically, said Highway Patrol Sgt. Joe Gazzo.

In all, five people were injured and three killed in the three accidents.

LaCombe was one of three backseat passengers in a northbound 1999 Honda driven by Paula Ancar, 41, of Lumberton. LaCombe was thrown from the car as it swerved off and then back onto the roadway after the blowout, Gazzo said.

It happened at 2:43 p.m. near Mile Marker 3 on I-59 in Pearl River County.

A frontseat passenger identified as Claude Ancar of Gretna, La., 65, has life-threatening injuries, Gazzo said. Ancar was taken to Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg. Two backseat passengers, Alex LaCombe of Lumberton, who is Abby's sister, and Kim Magee, 40, of New Orleans, suffered broken arms.
