Obituary for Adam Brenner, The Rockford Register-Gazette, Tuesday, Dec. 9, 1913

"Death Claims Adam Brenner - Adam Brenner, for forty years a blacksmith employed at plants on the water power, died this morning at his home, 2926 Thirteenth street. His death was due to a complication of diseases. The deceased was 80 years of age. He was born in Pennsylvania, coming west in 1854 and locating in Freeport. He moved to Rockford in 1861, going to work at the N. C. Thompson plant. In 1861 he entered the employ of Clark & Utter, with which concern he was connected for 31 years, without a break. In 1892 he left that concern, remaining away for eight years, only to return, the business of late years being conducted under the name of the Rockford Well Drill company. Mr. Brenner served for more than forty years on the water power, and during that time gained an enviable record for faithful and efficient service. His wife died 32 years ago. Surviving are one son, William H. Brenner, and one daughter, Mrs. Ella McManus. The funeral service will be held Thursday . . . burial will take place in the Scandinavian cemetery."
