Leo "Jaybird" Callen

MILBURN – Services for Leo "Jaybird" Callen, 73, of Milburn, were held Friday, Jan. 26, at the Milburn Baptist Church, Rev. Darrel Heath and Rev. Kenneth McCarthick officiating. Interment followed in the Bold Springs Cemetery. The son of Clinton Woodrow and Luella Mae Darbison Callen, he was born Sept. 17, 1933, in Fillmore, and died Jan. 24, 2007, in Ardmore.

He was a peanut farmer and raised cattle in the Fillmore area for most of his life, except for a 10-year period when he lived in Dallas, Texas and worked as a truck driver.

He married the former Jo Ann Harrison in Durant on April 3, 1954. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include two daughters, Cheryl Ann Allen of Tishomingo and Sharon Kay Daniel of the home; his mother, Luella Tussy; a brother, Jackie Callen; a sister, Judy Morrow; nine grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Clinton Woodrow Callen; a sister Glenda Sullivan; a son, James Clinton Callen; and two grandsons, Cody Ford and Jeremy Callen.

Richard West, Jimmy Turner, Wesley O'Neal, Mike Hendricks, Jim McGlocklin and Acie Smith served as pallbearers. Serving as honorary pallbearers were Wayne Estes, Joe Heath and Gilbert Williamson.

Services were directed by Clark Funeral Service.
