John Douglas Cooper, 74, of Salem, passed away Wednesday, July 11, 2007. He was employed by Mick-or-Mack and Barker Reality. He was a member of the Taylor Masonic Lodge and was awarded a lifetime membership in the Salem Lions Club. He was preceded in death by his parents, Guy T. and Lena Cooper; and a brother, Wayne T. Cooper. He is survived by his wife, Martha Anne Cooper; sister, Barbara (Mike) Barksdale of Roanoke; sister-in-law, Sandra Cooper of Roanoke; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Cecil and Sandra Kelley of Salem; nieces and nephews, Susan (Dan) Fry of Covington, Tom (Sharla) Cooper of Roanoke, Melissa (Mike) Salem of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Jackie (Joey) Todd of Little River, S.C., Jim Graham of Woodbridge; and special nephew, Tim Kelley of Salem; and eight great nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 13,2007 at 2 p.m. at Lotz Salem Chapel with the Rev. Rick Elmore officiating. Interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, July 12, 2007 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Good Samaritan Hospice. Arrangements are being handled by Lotz Funeral Home, Salem.
