Reva Wright Abshire, 91, of Roanoke, passed away, Thursday, July 5, 2007. She was born in Salem on April 21, 1916 to the late James Wright & Lula Hill Wright. She was a member of Little Creek Primitive Baptist Church. Mrs. Abshire is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James W. Abshire; a son, Herbert L. Abshire; a son-in-law, Clarence Shockley; two great grandchildren, Destiny Grace and Jonathan David; three brothers and four sisters. She is survived by four sons, James Abshire, & wife, Margaret, of Roanoke, Robert Abshire & wife, Doris, of Cottontown, TN, Jack Abshire & wife, Darlene, of Christiansburg and Curt Abshire of Roanoke; four daughters, Josie Shockley of McEwen, TN, Dorothy Shockley & husband, Alonzo, of Cookeville, TN, Joyce Akers & husband, Ernest, of Roanoke, and Bonnie Ballard & husband, Ron, of Roanoke. Mrs. Abshire is also survived by two brothers, Lynberg Wright, of Mechanicsville and Winfred Wright & wife, Lou, of NC; one sister, Carrie Palmer of Mechanicsville; 22 grandchildren; 42 great grandchildren, 10 great great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Helen and Danny Wright. The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 8, 2007 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Lotz Roanoke Chapel, 1001 Franklin Rd. SW. A graveside service will be held on Monday, July 9, 2007 at 11 a.m. at Sherwood Memorial Park with Elder Junior Conner, the Rev. Jeff Gardner and Preacher Tim Abshire officiating. Lotz Roanoke Chapel is handling the arrangements.
