David Ewing Boone, Jr. was the son of David Ewing Boone and Sarah Lurena (Taylor) Boone, and the 2 x great-grandson of the famous explorer Colonel Daniel Boone. On March 4, 1901 he married Carrie Gertrude Larue. She was the daughter of Thomas Beatty Larue and Margaret Mary (Casto) Larue.
David and Carrie were the parents of Carl Gilbert, William Floyd, Freda Margaret, twins Leland David and Leo Ewing, and Bruce Larue Boone. David also helped raise his stepson Lee Cooper.
