"Funeral services for 30-year resident of Lee Vining and Casa Grande, AZ., William Jefferson Banta, 96, will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 8, at Lee Vining Community Presbyterian Church, with Dr. Robert Denton and Winnedumah Lodge #287, Free and Accepted Masons officiating. Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, November 8, at Lee Vining Community Presbyterian Church.

Born in Bayfield, CO, on April 11, 1901, Mr. Banta died Nov. 1, 1997 in Casa Grande, AZ. He lived in Bishop from 1907 to 1932 and was a full-time Lee Vining resident from 1932 to 1967. He was a charter member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, #1603, Bishop and a Past Master of Alta Lodge #333, Free and Accepted Masons, Bridgeport.

Mr. Banta is survived by his wife of 25 years, Ethel Banta of Casa Grande; daughter Bette Haskins of Casa Grande; sons Clifford Banta of Bishop and Don Banta of Lee Vining; six grandchildren, six great grandchildren and an extended family with numerous stepchildren, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Donation may be made to Calvary Baptist Church, 518 E. Second St., Casa Grande, AZ 85222 or to the charity of one's choice. Internment will be at Mono Lake Cemetery."
