Mrs. Louisa M. Bingham died at her home In West Hickory Street about 4 o'clock Monday morning, August 24th. Mrs. Bingham had been seriously ill for some weeks and her death was not unexpected.
She was born in Fairfield, Herkimer County, seventy-eight years ago, Her maiden, name was Louisa M. Chittenden.
In 1847 she married E. Darwin Bingham, who was first a farmer and then a carriage maker, running a shop at Lowville. He was a brother of Rev. I. M. Bingham, who was for years a presiding elder and a minister prominent in the Northern New York Conference of the Methodist Episcopal church. R. M. Bingham, formerly of Rome, who was once extensively engaged In manufacturing business, was also a brother. Mr. Bingham died in 1881.
Mrs. Bingham removed to Canastota seventeen years ago, with her two daughters, and has since made her home here, residing in the bouse where she died.
Mrs. Bingham possessed a noble character. She was a devoted mother, a kind neighbor, and true friend.
She is survived by two daughters, Miss Harriet L. Bingham and Mrs. J. E. Roantree, both of whom tenderly cared for her during her declining years, and at her last illness.
The funeral services were held at her late home Wednesday afternoon at and Thursday morning her remains were taken to Boonville, where burial was made by the side of her husband. Syracusem Northern Christian Advocate, Wednesday, September 30, 1903
