David Julian Shanahan, Sr., CMSGT, USAF, ret., age 82, a 31 year resident of Austin, Texas, passed from this life into the next on Thursday, June 7, 2007. He is resting in the arms of Jesus.

He was born in Wagoner, Oklahoma, May 6, 1925, to David R. and Margaret Shanahan. He was a long time member of Hillcrest Baptist Church, Austin, Texas, and a retired Baptist minister. He was a loving Father, Grandfather, and Great Grandfather and was a faithful friend. He will be remembered by his family and friends for his Faith, courage, love, hospitality and his wonderful sense of humor.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years Minnie Mae Shanahan, his parents and his brother, Don Shanahan of Twin Falls, Idaho. He is survived by daughters, Pam Herridge of Houston, Texas, Pat Gist and husband Skip, of Dallas, Texas, Debbie Stark and husband Shane, of Georgetown, Texas; sons David J. Shanahan Jr. and wife Bonnie of Bixby, Oklahoma, Dick Shanahan of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Bill Shanahan and wife Penni of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Renee Lee, Brenda Shanahan, Andy Shanahan and wife Madeline, Cathy Szeszulski and husband Tim, Cindy Rader and husband Casey, Jonathan Herridge, Aaron Herridge, Shanalea Atchison and husband Adam, Caleb Shanahan, Chris Shanahan, Dawn Shanahan, Grant Georgulis, Brett Georgulis; great-grandchildren Amie Lee, Amanda Lee, Levi Rios, Matthew Shanahan, Nathan Shanahan, Emily Rader, Alyssa Rader, Anna Rader, Cole Szeszulski, Avery Atchison, Aiden Atchison, Jalen Rocha, Tessa Shanahan; Sister Carma Moore and husband Bob of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; brother Bill Shanahan of Wagoner, Oklahoma; sisters-in-law Millie Shanahan of Twin Falls, Idaho, Jane Trout of Pryor, Oklahoma, Roberta Hoffman of Wagoner, Oklahoma; brother- in-law Elmer Hoffman, and many more family.

The family would like to thank all the many friends and family for their visits, prayers, and words of encouragement throughout his illness. Special thanks to Dr Hans Hayden and his staff, Drs. Moore and Kasper and the staff of Seton Hospital, the staff of Hospice Austin, and the senior Sunday school department at the Hillcrest Baptist Church.

Pallbearers will be Andy Shanahan, Jonathan Herridge, Chris Shanahan, Caleb Shanahan, Aaron Herridge, Grant Georgulis, Brett Georgulis, Tim Szeszulski, Casey Rader, and Adam Atchison. The family will receive visitors on Sunday, June 10, 2007, from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m., at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home in Austin, Texas with funeral services on Monday, June 11, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at Hillcrest Baptist Church in Austin, Texas with the Reverend Tom Goodman officiating. The family will also receive visitors on Tuesday, June 12, 2007, from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m., at Shipman Funeral Home in Wagoner, Oklahoma, with services on Wednesday, June 13, 2007, at 2:00 p.m., at First Baptist Church, Wagoner, Oklahoma, with the reverend Earl W. Cobb officiating. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery, Wagoner, Oklahoma
